What we believe and teach |
A believer
can fall from grace and go to perdition. For God says that it is impossible
for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift,
who have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the good word
of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away – that is to say,
if they deny the Lord counting the blood of the covenant by which they were
sanctified a common thing and insulting the Spirit of grace – to renew them
again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God
and put Him to an open shame; and God says also that the just will live by
faith, but if he draws back His soul has no pleasure in him. |
Therefore let
us see to it that we stand firm in the faith to the end and we do not cast
away our confidence, which has great reward, and we perfect holiness in the
fear of God abstaining from every kind of evil and doing whatever is good to
the glory of God. In this way we will make our call and election sure, we
will never stumble, and an entrance will be supplied to us abundantly into
the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
