40. Under what form did the Son of God exist prior to His coming into
the world? |
|
He was
certainly a heavenly being without beginning of days, because one day He
said: “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John |
|
He was
God, for the Scripture says that the Word was with God, and the Word was God
(John 1:1); and He had a glory with the Father, for when He prayed to His
Father (on the night He was betrayed) He said: “And now, O Father, glorify Me
together with Yourself with the glory which I had with You before the world
was” (John 17:5 – NKJV). |
|
We can
say, as Paul said, that He was “in the form of God” (Philippians 2:6 – NKJV),
so He was equal with God, yet He made Himself of no reputation, taking the
form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men, and He became
obedient to death, even the death of the cross for our sake. |

To Him be
the glory now and forevermore. Amen. |
