Jesus Christ

17. The Scripture says that after Jesus performed a miracle or a healing He commanded people not to make Him known (Matthew 9:30; 12:16; Mark 1:44; 5:43; 7:36): could you tell me why Jesus acted in that way?

Jesus commanded them not to make Him known that it might be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust” (Matthew 12:18-21). That’s what Matthew says in the Gospel.
