Holy Spirit

3. When the Bible speaks of the fruits of the Spirit, does it refer to the Holy Spirit or to the regenerated human spirit?

It refers to the Holy Spirit (who proceeds from the Father), “the Spirit of His Son” (Galatians 4:6), who was sent forth by God into our hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’ (Galatians 4:6).

Therefore, the Holy Spirit dwells in us, He guides us, He strengthens us, He comforts us, and by Him we must put to death the deeds of the body (Romans 8:13).

This same Spirit produces in us love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

I conclude by saying this: the Scripture speaks of “the fruit of the Spirit” and not of ‘the fruits of the Spirit’.
