16. What must we do if the governing authorities command us to do something which is contrary to the will of God in Christ Jesus for us?

We must disobey the governing authorities in order not to disobey God (or rather, in order to obey God).

When the apostles were accused of having filled Jerusalem with their doctrine, even though they had been commanded by the Sanhedrin not to teach in Jesus’ name, they said: “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29 – NKJV).
