Baptism in water (or water baptism)

8. In whose name should water baptism be administered?

Water baptism must be administered in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, because this is what Jesus Christ commanded His apostles before He was received up into heaven, as He said: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19).

In the name of the Father because He sent the Son into the world to save the world; in the name of the Son for He gave Himself because of our offences and was raised because of our justification; and in the name of the Holy Spirit because He is the One who convicts the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgement, and He has been poured out in our hearts and by Him we cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’
